Combine Ganesh Chaturthi with a Stay at Trident Hotels in Mumbai

    Read Time: 2 Minutes

Travelling to Mumbai for Ganesh Chaturthi? Make the most of your trip with a stay at Trident Hotels in Mumbai, the perfect space to unwind after the excitement of the celebrations.

    What is Ganesh Chaturthi?

Ganesh Chaturthi marks the birthday of Lord Ganesh, the elephant God. Widely celebrated across Mumbai, Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival of new beginnings, as Ganesh, the remover of obstacles, returns to Earth to clear the way for growth and positive change for all.

Each year, thousands of visitors head to Mumbai to join in the famous celebrations and soak up the electric vibe.

How did it become so popular?

During the time of British rule, Ganesh Chaturthi united all Indians, regardless of religion or caste. 100 years later, it is still celebrated without discrimination in every corner of Mumbai. Families, neighbours, strangers and friends come together to dance in the streets, place offerings at the feet of Ganesh and pray for good fortune.

What can I expect from the festival?

You can expect to see statues of Lord Ganesh everywhere. From miniature idols placed in domestic shrines to towering effigies standing watch over public spaces and even Mumbai hotels’ lobbies, the city becomes a living temple during Ganesh Chaturthi, with ornate handmade figures standing up to 20 metres tall.

Over the course of the ten day celebrations, there are also lively street processions, with dhol players and dancing that attract large crowds.

On the tenth day, the thousands of Lord Ganesh idols are carried through Mumbai in spectacular processions, before being immersed in the Arabian Sea.

When does it all take place?

The date of the festival shifts slightly each year, as it is marked by the lunar calendar. This year, Ganesh Chaturthi starts on 27th August. Ganesh Visarjan, the immersion of the idols, concludes celebrations on 6th September 2025.

    Where can I stay?

The best hotels in Mumbai get fully booked for Ganesh Chaturthi, so you should plan your stay as soon as possible. Trident Hotels in Mumbai at Nariman Point and Bandra Kurla are two of the best Mumbai hotels you could choose.
